The Career Catalyst Site is a curricular resource created to guide high school and college-age students to make informed career choices and create their pathways to green careers. The Site provides a space for students to learn about their interests, our planet’s environmental challenges, and related occupations.
What personal information is gathered about you and how do we use it?
WestEd will not disclose any personal information to any third party without your consent, except when necessary in connection with services provided by appropriate intermediaries (e.g., an external vendor assisting with delivery of a product ordered by a customer), who will be required to comply with the confidentiality provisions of this policy.
To use the Website, users must register and login. Registration information enables users to view personalized information and to maintain a record of interests, jobs, and their Changemaker statement. Users can also maintain a journal to record information pertaining to their career exploration experience. Users may login at any time to update their information.
The following information enables us to to learn about our users in order to improve our the content of the Site and to provide information to our funder:
- At registration, the Career Catalyst requires: First and Last name, Email, Password, School or Organization, City/Town of School/Organization, State of School/Organization, California County, Country, Role. Optional information requested includes School/Program Name and Instructor Name.
- Information gathered as a result of voluntary participation in a survey or poll, or when communicating with our webmaster or other members of our Web Team.
- Information gathered automatically when visitors visit our website (i.e., IP address, session time [date, time, duration on site], click path, referral site, page requests, user’s browser and Operating System version).
With whom is your information shared?
We will only use registration information in aggregate form (meaning information summarized into large groups of users with no personally identifying information) to determine whether we are reaching our target audiences. We use the site usage data to determine the most valued website content/features to help us develop more content and features in those areas.
We will never sell, rent, or share individual registration information with anyone without your advance permission, or unless ordered by a court of law. Information submitted to us is only available to WestEd employees and its consultants. WestEd employees and its consultants may use this information for the sole purposes of contacting you based on your request for information, informing you regarding the status of your Changemaker Statement submitted for posting on the public wall, informing you about new Career Catalyst features, or contacting you for purposes of improving the content of this site.
We reserve the right to disclose any content, records, or electronic communication of any kind (including, but not limited to, personal information or transmitted on the Site): (i) to satisfy any law, regulation, or government request; (ii) if such disclosure is necessary to operate our business; or (iii) to protect the rights or property of WestEd or its users, sponsors, providers, or licensors or should inappropriate use be associated with your account.
How can you update or correct inaccuracies?
You can correct, change, or update your registration information at any time by logging in and editing your account. You may request that your personal records be removed from our database by emailing us at: Green360support”at”wested.org.
Cookies* are used to identify users after they login and continue to use the Career Catalyst. Cookies are encrypted to prevent tampering or interception. Users can turn off cookies, but the Career Catalyst site will not function properly without them.
What about other sites linked from the Site?
Please be aware that when you are on the Site, you can be directed to other sites that we do not control. These other sites may send their own cookies, collect data, or solicit personal information. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites. What about information you post on the Site?

Users may request that their Changemaker Statement be posted on the public Changmaker Wall. The Changemaker Statement is intended to capture the user’s interests and future goals. All statements are reviewed for appropriate content, correct spelling, and grammar. The user’s last name should not be included in the post or in the Nickname associated with the statement. If approved, statements appear on the Public Wall. Users receive an email regarding the status of their submitted statement. Statements include user’s first name. Including a School or Organization name is optional.
At any time, users can elect to edit their statement and/or unpublish it from the public wall.
